I cannot recall how many times I heard someone say those words to me throughtout my professional art career. Typically, it's proceeded with "but I wish I could create art..." and the truth is you can even if you think you can't. It's all in your head.

My art talent today spawned from little scribbles on 3"x3" sticky pads many years ago. I'd find myself in a twisted thought and would do my best to draw out what I was thinking. The ink drawings would evolve into ink + highlighters (and sometimes liquid paper). The one constant was my frame of mind. I realized I fell into this zone where I seemed to separate myself from my thoughts...as if riding a cloud above me, looking down. I love "the zone". It's not exactly something I can just put myself in...I have to just let it happen. And when it does that's when the more interesting stuff hurls onto the paper.

My subject matter varies and the medium changes because it's all about what my mood is. I started creating volumes of tiny "sticky art" and bizarre poetry which I called "noetry" because it was literal nonsense. The collection became more of a life journal than anything and I like to reflect sometimes and recall that moment in time when I look back.

Here is a tiny collection of my Noetry and Sticky Art on a google site I created many moons ago:

My upcoming art solo exhibition, "Unfinished: Existing On Its Own", occurs Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Studio 8700 Gallery in Oak Park, Michigan from 7pm - 11pm.

In this series, the "Unfinished" aspect does not mean the paintings were created during a state of apathy. Each work of art has an unfinished aspect about it whether it's paint that never made it to the canvas, imperfect edges of paper, or just the materials the painting is mounted to or in.

Each work stands alone, deserving its own aesthetic merit.

The show is free and open to the public. Original works are available for sale and a limited number of prints are available during the show.

I'm looking forward to sharing this experience with everyone!
